The 1st Research Report Meeting of Optics Education and Research Center was held
We reported the research results in four projects: "Smart Manufacturing Optics", "Smart ICT Social Optics", "Real-World Information Optics", and "Natural Environment Optics". Tochigi Future Technology Forum Optical Technology Creation Exchange Meeting and Workshop
On the occasion of the Regional Research University, the Optical Education and Research Center signed an agreement with the Graduate University for the Creation of New Photonics Industries and the Post-LED Photonics Laboratory of the University of Tokushima to strengthen collaboration in optical engineering, and held a kick-off meeting.

Presenting at “Seventeenth Conference on Education and Training in Optics and Photonics (ETOP2023)”
Professor Hagen, Professor Otani and Assistant Professor has been working on photonics education and they have presented at the international conference, “Seventeenth Conference on Education and Training in Optics and Photonics (ETOP2023)” as "Teaching an introductory optics lab course for mechanical engineering students". This initiative is to conduct experiments related to photonics for the mechanical systems engineering training (for third year university student)

On June 10, 2023, Honorary Fellow Miyoshi Ayama received the Illuminating Society Award (Research Achievement Award) from the Illuminating Engineering Institute of Japan. Her research activities in visual and color science has been highly evaluated. Congratulations!

Assistant Professor Kota Kumagai received the “54th Japan Society of Applied Physics Presentation Award” at the “70th Japan Society of Applied Physics Spring Conference”. This award is designed to recognize young JSAP members for their outstanding contributed oral presentations during JSAP Spring Meetings which would contribute to the development of the field of applied physics.
